How to Defeat Mega Swampert in Pokémon GO Mega Raids

With the Hoenn Mega Raid Day soon on the Horizon, today we’re taking a look at how to defeat Mega Swampert in Mega Raids.

Mega Swampert makes its debut Dec. 3, and will likely be appearing again throughout several Pokémon GO events.

How to Defeat Mega Swampert in Pokémon GO Mega Raids

Along with Mega Sceptile and Mega Blaziken, Mega Swampert is makings its way to Pokémon GO, and we’re going to take a look at how to defeat this Grass-Type Mega.

With a 2.56x weakness to Grass Type moves (via PokéBattler), your best bet is obviously going to be Grass Types. With that in mind, let’s take a look at the top ten ‘mon to bring into a Raid Battle against Mega Swampert.

According to Pokémon GO Hub, without weather boost, the Catching CP of Swampert can be between 1622 – 1699 CP with no weather, and 2027 – 2124 CP with Sunny or Rainy weather boost.

Pokemon – Fast Move / Charge Move

  • Kartana – Razor Leaf / Leaf Blade
  • Shaman – Sky Forme – Hidden Power / Grassnot
  • Zarude – Vine Whip / Power Whip
  • Roserade – Razor Leaf / Grass Knot
  • Tangrowth – Vine Whip / Power Whip
  • Celebi – Magical Leaf / Leaf Storm
  • Torterra – Razor Leaf / Frenzy Plant
  • Venusaur – Vine Whip / Frenzy Plant
  • Leafeon – Razor Leaf / Leaf Blade
  • Shaymin – Land Forme – Hidden Power / Grass Knot

If you have any Grass-Type Megas, such as Mega Venusaur, be sure to bring them to Battle. Also Shadow Pokémon can be useful if you have gotten them to forget Frustration through TMs during special events.

Additionally, Pokémon GO Hub notes that Mega Swampert’s Fast Moves are either Mud Shot (Ground) or Water Gun (Water). Charge Moves include Hydro Cannon (Water), Surf (Water), Earthquake (Ground), Muddy Water (Water) and Sludge Wave (Poison).

High Level Trainers may likely be able to solo Mega Swampert with a strong enough team, but low Level Trainers may want to bring a team of at least three or four, assuming everyone is using the best Counters.
