On Dec. 3, Mega Blaziken will join Mega Swampert and and Mega Sceptile in Raids for Hoenn Raid Day. Of course, this Fire / Fighting Type Pokémon will also return throughout other Hoenn based events.

Sure to be a popular Pokémon, we’re going to take a look at the top counters for this Mega-dude. With a weakness to Flying, Ground, Water and Psychic moves, Mega-Blaziken may be rather easy for Trainers to defeat. According to Pokémon GO Hub, Mega Blaziken will have a non-weather boosted CP of 1550 – 1627, and a weather boosted CP of 1938 – 2034 with Sunny or Cloudy weather conditions.

Not counting Shadow or Mega Pokémon, the top 10 best ‘mon to use against Mega Blaziken are as follows (via PokéBattler):

Pokémon – Fast Move / Charge Move

  • Mewtwo – Confusion / Psystrike
  • Lunala – Confusion / Psychic
  • Hoopa Unbound – Confusion / Psychic
  • Moltres – Wing Attack / Sky Attack
  • Latios – Zen Headbutt / Psychic
  • Lugia – Extrasensory / Aeroblast+
  • Kyogre – Waterfall / Surf
  • Galarian Articuno – Confusion / Brave Bird
  • Garchomp – Mud Shot / Earth Power
  • Hoopa – Confusion / Psychic

(Note that this list does not include Shadow or Mega Pokémon. If you have any Mega or Shadow ‘mon that are strong against Mega Blaziken, be sure to use them.)

Other options include Metagross, Tveltal, Ho-Oh, Espeon, Swampert and Rayquaza.

Of course, since some of these Pokémon may be on the rare side, do your best to bring strong Psychic or Flying-Type attackers to the Raid. According to estimates from PokéBattler, high Level Trainers may likely be able to solo Mega Blaziken.

It is worth noting that Blaziken is strong against Bug 2x, Dark, Fire, Grass Ice an Steel. According to Pokémon GO Hub, his Fast Moves are Counter (Fighting) or Fire Spin (Fire). His Charge Moves may include Blast Burn (Fire), Blaze Kick (Fire), Overheat (Fire), Focus Blast (Fighting) or Brave Bird (Flying).

Given that it’s a Fire-Type, Mega Blaziken shouldn’t that hard to find counters to battle it. The Fighting Type also makes it incredibly weak to Flying moves.

Best of luck when Raiding Mega Blaziken!
