Today we’re looking at how to defeat Giratina in Five-Star raids.
Making its return for the Halloween 2022 Event, both Altered Forme Giratina and Origin Forme Giratina will be appearing in raids.
How to Defeat Both Formes of Giratina
During Part 1 and 2 of the new Halloween Event 2022, both Altered Forme Giratina and Origin Forme will return to Raids. Giratina will return in Five-Star Raids during the following times:
- Altered Forme Giratina: Thursday, Oct. 20, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. local time, to Thursday, Oct. 27, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. local time
- Origin Forme Giratina: Thursday, Oct. 27, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. to Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. local time
Typing, Weakness and Resistance
Typing for Giratina is Ghost/Dragon, so there’s a lot of room to work with for your team. Having 5 weaknesses is great for your move pool, but Giratina also has 7 resistances Trainers should consider.
Weaknesses: Dark, Dragon, Fairy, Ghost, Ice
Resistances: Fighting (2x), Normal (2x), Bug, Electric, Fire, Grass, Poison, Water
Going with the Best Team
For an absolute beast-tier team, you want to go with Mega Gengar, Mega Latios and Mega Latias. However, if you’re not the type to use Mega Pokémon, there’s still other options.
Thanks to GamingIntel, Let’s take a look at some other good Pokémon and their best moves.
- Rayquaza: Dragon Tail and Outrage
- Salamanca: Dragon Tail and Outrage
- Palkia: Dragon Trail and Draco Meteor
- Hydreigon: Dragon Breath and Brutal Swing
- Dialga: Dragon Breath and Draco Meteor
- Darkrai: Snarl and Shadow Ball
- Garchomp: Dragon Tail and Outrage
The important thing to remember when battling is Typing. If you can’t assemble a top-tier team, try to go with high level / high CP Pokémon that have the appropriate Typing attacks. The search feature in Pokémon GO is your friend, for you can search for Types.
Gardevoir can have Charm as a Fast Move and Dazzling Gleam for a Charged Move, and hunting Female Ralts that are decent isn’t that hard. Yveltal was also recently in Raids, so newer trainers may have more of those rather than some of the rarer Dragons. Though, be warned that these Pokémon are likely to go down much quicker, again due to Typing.
Concerning group sizes, Trainers under Level 40 should probably stick to groups of 5 or larger, and should especially pay attention to Typing. Lower Level 40 Trainers should be able to do it with 5, and Higher Level 40 players likely could do it with 4. Again, Typing is the true advantage here, so bring your A game, especially when in Remote Raids.
Origin Forme Giratina is good for Raid Battles, whereas the Altered Forme can be good in Ultra League. Both have a shiny variant, so both will rather be popular to Raid.
As always, be sure to have fun, and best of luck getting the Shiny!
