Pokémon GO Introduces Elite Raids Featuring Hoopa Unbound

Over the weekend, Pokémon GO introduced Elite Raids featuring Hoopa Unbound.

According to the official Pokémon GO website, these new Raids take 24 hours to hatch from an egg. Once the Egg hatches, the Raid Boss will appear for 30 minutes. Again, remember that trainers will not be able to use Remote Raid Passes for these Raids. Like other Raid types, defeating Hoopa Unbound gives players the opportunity to catch it.

According to reports, Elite Raids that were completed during Litwick Community Day also increased spawns of other Pokémon as well. According to trainer Pokédaxi, some users were seeing Zapdos, Articuno and Moltres spawning after an Elite Raid. Further reports also suggest that Hisuian Pokémon were spawning as well.

The new Elite Raids could shake things up within the Pokémon GO community. While it’s great that Niantic is seeming to shy away from Ex-Raids given that it was often difficult to schedule and organize, this seems like a nice middle ground.

Looking Ahead

For now, it seems like they will mostly be during events, which will be great for those that can only play with a community on certain days. Of course, those that play alone, you may once again find yourself on your own.

Considering that Pokémon GO really wants trainers to, you know, actually go somewhere, this new feature seems like a cool way to motivate trainers to find new areas and communities. The Official Pokémon GO page suggests that more Elite Raids will arrive throughout the season.

More than likely, this seems like a good way to introduce Guzzlord into the mix, considering the Ultra Beast appears on the loading screen, though trainers still haven’t seen the Beast this season.
