Pokémon GO Announces Part One of Halloween 2022 Event: New Shiny Pokémon, Candy Bonuses and More

Pokémon GO has unveiled part one of the Halloween 2022 event, and trainers can expect plenty of new content.

Broken down into two parts this year, the first part debuts Mega Banette, Shiny Galarian Yamask, Shiny Noibat and more.

Pokémon GO Unveils Part-One of Halloween 2022 Event

Just like last year, this year’s Halloween event in Pokémon GO will occur in two parts. Along with additional bonuses and surprises, this year’s event will also feature a special remix of the Lavender Town music as well as Halloween-inspired Special Research.

The first part of this year’s Halloween event will take place between Thursday, Oct. 20, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. local time, to Thursday, Oct. 27, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. local time.

Bonuses for this event include:

  • 2x Candy for catching Pokémon
  • 2x Candy for hatching Pokémon
  • 2x Candy for transferring Pokémon
  • Trainers level 31 and above will receive one guaranteed Candy XL when walking with their buddy.

Paid Timed Research Tasks

Along with the debut of Mega Banette*, this event, the new Halloween event in Pokémon GO will also feature two different paid events.

The first ticket (U.S. $1) will grant access to a special Halloween Timed Research, which includes encounters with Yamask* and G. Yamask*.

Ticket two (U.S. $5) will grant access to Timed Research that offers increased Candy bonuses, additionally Halloween-Based Tasks, as well as a new avatar pose.

Users have the option to buy either of the tickets, or both. Each one is unique. It is also important to note that the Research will expire by Tuesday, Nov. 1, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. local time.

Free Special Research

Along with two different paid Timed Research, there will also be a free Special Research, which features more encounters with Yamask and G. Yamask. For the first time, G. Yamask will be shiny for lucky trainers.

Eggs, Encounters and Spawns

Note that an asterisk denotes if the Pokémon can be shiny or not.

Eggs for this event include special 7km Eggs. Within these Eggs, users can hatch Yamask, G. Yamask*, Phantump, Golett and Noibat*. Noibat is appearing as a shiny for the first time during this event.

Wild encounters include Zubat*, Gastly*, Haunter, Spinarak*, Murkrow*, Misdreavus*, Sableye*, Shuppet*, Dusclops*, Absol*, Drifloon*, Yamask*, Golett, Phatump and Pumpkaboo.

Field Research task encounters include Shuppet*, Duskull*, Yamask*, G. Yamask* and Phantump. Field Research Tasks will also include Gengar Mega Energy and Absol Mega Energy.

In-Game Shop Items and Raids

Additionally, the Spooky Pose found in the in-game shop will now include movement: the pose will now lurch toward the screen.

New avatar items featured in this event include:
Dusclops Costume
Dusclops Headwrap

Raids for this event include:

  • One-Star Raids: Sableye*, Purrloin, Yamask*, G. Yamask* and Phantump
  • Three-Star Raids: Gengar*, Umbreon, Drifblim, Drapion
  • Five-Star Raids: Altered Forme Giratina*

Additionally, Giratina caught during the event will know the exclusive Charged Move Shadow Force. This attack features 120 power in Trainer Battles and 140 power in gyms and raids.

Pokémon GO Halloween Event 2022 Off to a Good Start

Overall, the Candy bonuses for this event alone will make it worth the playtime. Niantic likes to go all out for Holiday events, and this year’s Halloween event looks like it will be a sure-fire winner. The addition of shiny G. Yamask will be fun to try and collect, but Noibat only being in 7km Eggs is something of a let down. It’s also great seeing Altered Forme Giratina make a return.

Don’t forget that the Festival of Lights event is also going on this week, and lasts until Oct. 17 at 8:00 p.m. local time.
